Academics

There are three academic programs offered at the CEC. Most students looking to complete their high school diploma will enroll in our traditional day program. We also offer credit recovery for students enrolled in neighboring districts.

Traditional Day Program

The Traditional Day Program is a guided, self-study program, offering the students an opportunity to complete their diploma. Each student has an individualized schedule created based on their Continuous Learning Plan.

Attendance Requirements

Each student will have a minimum attendance and unit requirement assigned. The CEC is open for students from:

  • Monday - 8:15 am - 2:30 pm
  • Tuesday - 8:15 am - 5:15 pm
  • Wednesday - 8:15 am - 5:15 pm
  • Thursday - 8:15 am - 2:30 pm
  • Friday - 8:15 am - 10:30 am

Graduation Requirements

All students need to complete 50 credits to graduate. During your enrollment an initial credit check will be done to determine how many credits you are entering the program with.

  • 26 core classes
    • 8 credits of English Language Arts
    • 6 credits of Mathematics
    • 2 credits of Physical Education / Health
    • 5 credits of Science
    • 1/2 credit of Art
    •
  • 24 elective classes

Continuous Learning Plan

A Continuous Learning Plan (CLP) guides students through their academic journey. Every student in the Traditional Day Program will work with their parents/guardians and CEC Staff work to craft an individualized plan that meets the academic goals of each student. This plan is reviewed weekly with the student's advisor and is updated each semester.

Some of the items covered in the CLP include:

  • Career and college readiness testing (ASVAB, MCA's, etc.)
  • Student graduation goal date
  • Semester specific academic and personal goals
  • Credit goals per semester
  • Other activities the student will participate in outside of the CEC

Credit Recovery Programs

The CEC offers credit recovery for students in neighboring districts (including Little Falls, Royalton, and Pierz). Students who need to retake a course and make up that credit can enroll in our Extended Day (during the school year) or Extended Year (summer) program.

Extended Day

Student can work to earn up to two recovery credits per year in our Extended Day program. This program is offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 3:15-5:15pm.

Extended Year

The Extended Year program also allows students to recover up to two credits. This is a three week program in June offered in the mornings from 8-Noon.
